Two bike thieves involved in 20 cases held

Two motorcycle thieves, committing robberies since 2000, were arrested in west Delhi’s Moti Nagar area, police said on Wednesday.

Both the accused have been involved in over 20 cases of theft, Arms Act and snatching.
Jasvinder, 38, and Satish, 32, were apprehended near Moti Nagar Metro Station, said Ranvir Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police (West District).

“While Jasvinder is involved in eight cases of theft and snatching, Satish has been involved in 14 cases of theft, Arms Act and snatching,” Singh added. A stolen motorcycle and scooty have been recovered from their possession, police said.

“A TVS Star City motorcycle and Scooty were recovered from them,” they added.On Tuesday, an information was received that two auto-lifters would be coming near Fun Cinema to sell a stolen motorcycle.

“A team with the informer took position near Moti Nagar Metro Station. Around 2.40 pm two persons came on a motorcycle. The front number plate of the vehicle was damaged. They were pointed out by the informer and were apprehended,” said Singh.

The investigation revealed that the motorcycle used by the accused was stolen from Janak Puri area in March.On interrogation, the accused persons confessed to have been committing crime since 2000.

They have been arrested many times. Satish disclosed that he adopted a modus operandi to change his addresses frequently to avoid his arrest.He was released from jail some time ago and came in contact of Jasvinder.“Jasvinder confessed to have stolen the scooty and it was recovered at his instance,” police added.
