Last Updated 11 November 2014, 17:42 IST

Bharathiya Janatha Party workers have demanded the State government to cut Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus ticket fares following the decrease in diesel prices. During a protest in front of the KSRTC bus stand here, BJP workers warned that if the government fails to cut the fares within a week, the protest would be intensified across the state.

Addressing the protesters, BJP State Working Committee Member K Udaykumar said that State government can not say that KSRTC is in loss and it can not cut the ticket fares.

Though the Central government has decreased the diesel price six times in last five months, the State government is deaf and dumb about cutting ticket fares. Diesel price has been decreased by Rs 6 on an average and both KSRTC and private bus ticket bus fares should be cut accordingly, he demanded.

CMC Members Rashmitha Balakrishna, Yashpal Suvarna, Shyamprasad Kudva, Narasimha Nayak, Zilla Panchayat Members  Katapadi Shankara Poojary, former MLA Lalaji R Mendon were present among others.
