Lodge plaint against BMTF SP, police chief tells 'Duniya' Vijay

Kannada film actor ‘Duniya’ Vijay has been directed by the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner M N Reddi to approach the jurisdictional police and lodge a complaint against the Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force SP, Devaraj.

The actor met Reddi on Thursday and narrated how Devaraj’s actions allegedly caused turmoil in his marital life. Vijay alleged that he had to separate from his wife temporarily due to the “personal agenda” of Devaraj who was a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in the City two years ago. The actor wants the police commissioner to take stern action against Devaraj, a source in the police department said.

Reddi gave a patient hearing to the actor and promised suitable action. He directed Vijay to go to the jurisdictional police station and make a complaint to enable the police to register a case and begin an investigation. Reddi is also learnt to have told the actor to give him a separate complaint, the source added.

Devaraj’s name cropped up in the divorce case of Vijay and his wife Nagarathna only on Wednesday. Vijay, who ended two years of separation with his wife and withdrew his divorce petition, claimed that Devaraj was the “chief conspirator” for the tragedy in his marital life.

The actor had claimed that Devaraj “cooked up stories for his personal agenda” that finally created a rift between him and his wife.

Devaraj is said to have introduced actor Shubha Poonja to Vijay and requested him to ensure her a role in a Kannada film. The officer then kept in constant touch with Vijay,
requesting him to help establish Punja as an actor. Sometime ago, Vijay’s name was linked with Punja and it was rumoured that he had secretely married her. When Vijay and Nagarathna approached the court, Punja was viewed as the primary cause for the separation.

The BMTF officer, meantime, has given a new twist to the controversy. He claimed that Vijay and a politician were “involved” in a land-grabbing case which was handed over to him for a probe. Vijay became apprehensive after he began the probe and hence is dragging his name in the controversy, a source insisted.
