Advani attends wedding in City

Senior BJP leader and former deputy prime minister L K Advani, who was here on Sunday to attend a wedding, recalled his association with the City.

Advani attended the wedding of Madhukeshwar Desai, the great grandson of former prime minister Morarji Desai. Madhukeshwar Desai is the national vice-president of the BJP youth wing.

During his brief stay at the Kumara Krupa Guesthouse, Advani refused to take questions from the media on political issues or current affairs. “It is a personal visit. My association with Bengaluru goes back to the days of the emergency when I was imprisoned in the Central Jail”, Advani recalled.

Advani said he was visiting Bengaluru after a gap of a few years. He had addressed the party’s Jan Chetana Yatra in the City in 2011. Advani was received by Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers H N Ananth Kumar. Several BJP leaders including Ramanchandra Gowda, V Somanna, Govind Karjol, among others, called on him.
