NCP president Sharad Pawar was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital and Research Centre here on Wednesday after he injured his leg after a fall at his New Delhi residence during a morning walk.

A late PTI report said the NCP chief is scheduled to undergo surgery for the injury. “Pawar sustained leg fracture after a fall at his Delhi residence. Doctors will perform a minor surgery and mend the injury point on his leg,” senior NCP leader Praful Patel told reporters.

Patel added that Pawar was brought to Mumbai for treatment as the doctors who treat him regularly are in Breach Candy hospital. The 73-year-old veteran politician went to Mumbai in an air ambulance from the national capital. From the airport, he was rushed to hospital.

He was accompanied by wife, Pratibha, and daughter, Supriya Sule, in the air ambulance.
A team of doctors is monitoring his condition. Pawar’s nephew and former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, who was to undertake a tour of drought-affected areas, cancelled the visit.
