Cabinet likely to meet in Hampi

 “The meeting will be held either on January 16 or 20. The dates will be finalised after consultation with the Chief Minister,” Tourism Minister G Janardhana Reddy said here on Sunday.

Speaking in the meeting on the ceremony to commemorate the 500th year of Srikrishnadevaraya’s coronation, the minister said that a Cabinet meet at Hampi will facilitate the development of the region.

Reddy said that the government has approved Rs 30 crore to observe the occasion on a grand scale. The programme will conclude on January 29. More than Rs 3 crore will be spent on publicity and telecasting. Eight stages will be erected and the main stage will be set up in front of Gayatripeeth. More than one lakh people from across the nation, cine actors, artistes from India and abroad and foreign delegates are expected to participate in the event. A programme to observe the birth anniversary of Swamy Vivekananda will be held at Kanteerava stadium in Bangalore.
