Youth urged to monitor quality of development works in villages

There should be no scope for misuse of NREGS

Moreover, the intended beneficiaries should be able to avail themselves of the benefits of the various welfare measures initiated by the State government, said Zilla Panchayat President M Srinivasan at the inauguration of the Janaspandana programme organised at Shagatur village in Srinivaspur taluk on Saturday.

There should be no scope left for misuse in the implementation of the NREGS in the taluk. Senior officials should initiate immediate action when they are informed about such instances, he added.

Youth should be aware and supervise the developmental works that are being initiated in their villages. When they come across sub-standard work the officials concerned should be informed, said M Srinivasan.

In order to solve the drinking water crisis in the taluk a proposal has been submitted to the government to dig 250 bore wells and undertake desilting work in atleast one of the tanks in each hobli.

A community hall will be constructed at Manjalanagar at an estimated cost of Rs 1 lakh. In addition to this a playground at a cost of Rs 2 lakh will be constructed at Shagatur village, added ZP president.

Zilla Panchayat member G Rajanna, Taluk Panchayat member Rajashekar Reddy, ZP Technical Sub Division Engineer Ashwathnarayan, Block Education Officer Victor, Taluk Silk Department Senior Assistant Director Byrappa, Narayanaswamy, Krishnappa and others were present on the occasion.
