Collecting funds for animal care

It was the love for animals that brought hundreds of people together for a music concert ‘Music Cravings’ organised by the People for Animals (PFA), an NGO run by Maneka Gandhi.

The electrifying musical evening, held at the Siri Fort Auditorium, featured musical duo Sachin Sanghvi and Jigar Saraiya.

Popularly known as Sachin-Jigar, the talented duo extended their support to raise funds for animal welfare by singing some of their popular numbers like Saibo from Shor in the City, Jeene laga hoon from Ramaiyya Vastavaiyya, Jee Karda from Badlapur, Johny Johny from Its Entertainment, Nacho Saare G faadke from Kill Dil.

The young artistes have composed music for films like Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya, Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum, OMG: Oh My God!, Ajab Gazabb Love, ABCD: Any Body Can Dance, Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story, Himmatwala, I, Me Aur Main, Go Goa Gone, Ramaiya Vastavaiya and many more.

Band Karma, also perfor-med live for the event. Karma is one of India’s most popular bands with more than 1,000 shows across the country and abroad. What sets the band apart is their ease with various musical genres in English, Hindi, Punjabi and Sufi hits.

People for Animals is India’s largest organisation working for the welfare of animals. It works to rescue and rehabilitate sick and abandoned animals. PFA runs shelters, ambulance services, sterilisation programs, treatment camps and disaster rescue missions for animals. They conduct education programs in schools, fight cases in court and lobby on animal issues in parliament.With 36 Hospitals-cum-Shelter and over 200 Units all over India PFA aims for more. PFA’s goal is to make Shelter-cum-Hospital in each district.

On the occasion, Maneka Gandhi said “Animals are an integral part of our lives, to live in harmony. PFA has taken a pledge to protect and care for them, and create a safe environment where they are not exploited by any means. As the year comes to an end, PFA joined hands with Karma band and Sachin-Jigar duo to help us in voicing for the voiceless. The proceeds of this show will go towards providing better facilities at our shelters to protect these animals from harsh winters.”
