Two day Hoysala festival on Jan 8, 9

The announcement of the launch of Hoysala Utsav in Belur on January 8, has put an end to the existing confusion over the venue of the programme.

A preliminary meeting presided over by MLA Y N Rudresh Gowda in Belur on Friday held discussions in this regard and decided to celebrate the two-day Utsav in the taluk in a grand manner. 

While the district administration will launch the programme on January 8 here, the taluk administration will be responsible in organising a variety of programmes, involving popular and local artistes on both the days.

Sakleshpur Assistant Commissioner Madhukeshwar who participated in the meeting said that a grand procession accompanied by folk troupes will be taken out from the taluk office premises at 2.30 am. ‘Hoysala Jyothi’ will be brought from Angadi village, Moodigere taluk.

The torch will also be taken out in a procession that will pass through the main roads of the town up to Channakeshava temple, where the District-in-Charge Minister H C Mahadevappa will inaugurating the festival. Kannada and Culture Minister Umashri and other dignitaries will participate. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is expected to attend the valedictory ceremony to be held in Hassan on January 11.

Singer Rajesh Krishnan will present a light music programme followed by other cultural programmes, he said. On the second day on January 9, local artistes will present cultural programmes.

Meanwhile,Taluk Panchayat vice president B R Padmakshi raised objections for not printing her name in the invitation. However Madhukeshwar said that the invitation had been printed as per the government norms.
