Woman killed in cylinder explosion near Hubballi
A woman was killed on the spot after three LPG cylinders exploded at her house in Byahatti near Hubballi on Sunday noon. The house was reduced to rubbles in the incident.

The police have identified the deceased as Manjula Veerupakshavva Navalur (35). Eyewitnesses told Deccan Herald that cotton stacked in a room of the house caught fire following an electrical short circuit. The fire rapidly spread to other rooms.

The three cylinders kept in the room exploded as a result of which the roof of the house caved in.
Manjula, who was sleeping in a room was killed on the spot after the debris fell on her.
The other members of the family managed to run out of the house. More than 25 quintal of cotton, 12 quintal red chilli, wheat, onion and other food grains stocked in the house were reduced to ashes, while the house has been extensively damaged.

The damage is estimated at Rs 40 lakh. Fire engines were pressed into service to douse the flames.
