'Hasiru Hore Kaanike' in Udupi from today

Speaking to the media persons here on Wednesday, Paryaya Welcome Committee Chief Coordinator Jayaker Shetty Indrali said that the ‘Hasiru Hore Kaanike’ procession will begin from Jodukatte Govind Kalyana Mantapa and pass through Triveni Circle, Sanskrit College, Kanakadas Road and Car Street to reach Matura Chatra. The procession will comprise of ‘folk dances’, ‘Keelu Kudure’, ‘Saxaphone’, ‘Nasik Band’ and tableaux representing culture and tradition of the land. BJP Senior leader A G Kodgi will be the chief advisor in Hore Kaanike Samithi. Hore Kaanike will be received from as many as 34 locations, including faraway places like Mumbai, Bangalore, Theerthahalli, Mangalore and other surrounding areas.

The programme will be initiated by ‘ISKCON’ on January 8. The inaugural ceremony of the programme will follow in the presence of Shiroor mutt seer. About 5 lakh coconuts, 20 trucks of paddy and more than 50 trucks of vegetables are expected to be offered by various organisations and devotees during Hora Kaanike ritual, he added.

About 100 volunteers have been appointed to take care of the entire process. Shiroor mutt Deewan Latvya Acharya, Vrajanath Acharya, Paryaya Welcome Committee Coordinator Ratnakumar, Eshwar Chittpadi and others were present at the press meet.
