Pensions to three lakh persons in dist

The government till now has distributed pensions to three lakh beneficiaries under social  security schemes in Mysuru district.

Of the total 3,00,201 beneficiaries, highest of 1.04 lakh are Sandhya Suraksha beneficiaries; followed by 82,959 widow pensioners; 35,728 disabled persons; 33,967 old age pension beneficiaries; 28,777 under funeral aid; 9,303 under national family assistance plan; 5,248 under Manaswini;  and 159 under model marriage scheme.

Sandhya Suraksha

Under Sandhya Suraksha scheme, monthly pension of Rs 500 is given to the people aged above 65 years and Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, including small land holders, micro farmers, agricultural labourers, weavers, fishermen and also the workers coming under unorganised sector. In Mysuru taluk, 26,199 people are reaping the benefit; followed by 20,717 in Nanjangud; 16,533 in H D Kote; 12,917 in T Narispur; 10,487 in Hunsur; 10,375 in K R Nagar; and 6,832 in Periyapatna.

Widows belonging to BPL families and aged above 18 years are also being given Rs 500 pension per month either till their death or till their remarriage, or if they are employed with annual income of Rs 6,000 and above. Under the same category, Mysuru taluk tops again with 24,544 beneficiaries; followed by 12,913 in T Narsipur; 12,799 in Nanjangud; 10,335 in H D Kote; 9,051 in Hunsur;  and 7,789 in K R Nagar; and 5,528 in Periyapatna.

Similar amount of Rs 500 is given as pension to physically challenged persons (deformity above 40 pc) and Rs 1,200 for deformity above 70 per cent. Under them, highest of 11,293 beneficiaries are in Mysuru taluk; 4,869 in Nanjangud; 4,730 in T Narsipur; 4,567 in H D Kote; 3,979 in Hunsur; 3,547 in K R Nagar; and 2,743 in Periyapatna.

Under old age pension, senior citizens aged above 65 years and belonging to BPL families are provided Rs 500. It includes, 7,194 beneficiaries in T Narsipur; 6,894 in Hunsur; 6,355 in K R Nagar; 5,539 in Mysuru; 3,928 in Nanjangud; 2,632 in H D Kote; and 1,425 in Periyapatna.

Mass marriage scheme

To encourage and popularise simple mass marriages both in urban level and rural areas, an amount of Rs 10,000 will be distributed in the form of deposit for two years, for a total of 25 marriages in urban and 10 in rural areas. Nanjangud tops here at 97; followed by 45 in Hunsur; 11 in T Narsipur; three in K R Nagar; two in Mysuru; and one in Periyapatna.

Under national family assistance, in the event of death of the bread winner aged between 18 years and 59 years, one time financial aid of Rs 20,000 is given. Since the launch of the scheme, the benefit has been availed by 2,137 families in Mysuru; 1,701 in T Narsipur; 1,516 in Hunsur; 1,230 in K R Nagar; 1,089 in Nanjangud; 817 in H D Kote; and 813 in Periyapatna.

For widows and spinsters aged 45 years and above belonging to BPL families, monthly pension of Rs 500 is given under Manaswini scheme. Till now, 1,990 have been availing the benefit in Nanjangud; followed by 803 in Mysuru; 797 in H D Kote; 630 in K R Nagar; 438 in T Narsipur; 369 in Periyapatna; and 281 in Hunsur.
