Sonowal congratulates Team India

Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal lauded the Indian cricket team for its comprehensive 130-run victory over South Africa in a World Cup match in Melbourne, saying Mahendra Singh Dhoni led the side "brilliantly".

"The India Team truly deserved the victory. It was a true team effort. The Indians batted well and their running between the wickets was exceptionally fast. The bowlers bowled well from the beginning and the wickets at regular interval kept the pressure building and the team also managed to get some crucial run-outs," Sonowal said in a statement.

"Overall it was a brilliant team effort and with these two important wins, the team would be beaming with confidence. I once again congratulate MS Dhoni for brilliantly leading the team and I wish them good luck for their future games."

Dhawan's career-best 137 propelled India to a comfortable 307 for seven today before the bowlers performed brilliantly to bundle out the Proteas for 177 in 40.2 overs in what turned out to be a rather lopsided contest at the packed Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Union Minister and Olympic silver-medallist Rajyavardhan Rathore also congratulated the Indian team.

"Congratulations India for winning #IndvsSA Match. For each winning moment there may be a million self beliefs strengthened," he tweeted
