Implement 'Jameen Vapasi' demand land losers

Those displaced by Suzlon Co demand speedy steps

The victims who are displaced owing to Suzlon Company demanded that the government should initiate measures to return their acquired land under the programme ‘Jameen Vapasi’.

Briefing reporters, land looser, Lolaksha said State government should initiate ‘Jameen Vapasi’ from Palimaru, Nandikur, Nadsalu and Hejmadi villages. He said Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) had sold 641.915 acre of land, which was acquired, to Suzlon Company. As many as 275.835 acre in Nadsalu, 204.700 acre in Palimaru, 140.790 acre in Nandikur, 20.590 acre in Hejmadi was acquired.

A notification was released stating that these areas come under Special Economic Zone (SEZ) on September 11, 2007. Suzlon sold the land to Synetra Engineering and Construction Company Ltd in 2009. Synetra has again sold the land to  Aspen Infrastructure Ltd in 2012, which  has started working in the same place.

He accused the change of ownership has led to huge fraud. Nearly hundreds of crores fraud has taken place. He added that of the total area acquired by KIADB, nearly 500 acres have remained unutilised.

Following which Aspen Infrastructure Ltd has come forward to sell the land that is not used. He demanded that the government should immediately interfere and take the initiative to redistribute the 500 acres of acquired land that has remained unutilized among the victims.

He said the government should take up the survey to ensure the proper amount of land that is acquired for the purpose and is being utilised.

Rehabilitation colonies

Hence, the State government should initiate Ghar Vapasi programme from these areas, wherein the inhabitants are made to take shelter in rehabilitation colonies. More than 200 are the victims of the fraud. He demanded that the government should also initiate judicial inquiry by a retired justice.

He added delegation of the victims would hold talks with the Chief Minister demanding the return of the land under ‘Ghar Vapasi’ programme. He added following which indefinite strike would be held in front of the former Suzlon Company owned building. He said the list of the evacuees who are deprived of the compensation package is already given to the DC.  He said the land that was earmarked for the rehabilitation is not completely distributed among the displaced people.

He demanded that the State government should bring amendments to the NDA introduced ordinance for the Land Reform Act. The ordinance is totally anti farmer and anti poor. State government should also introduce amendments to other Land Reform Acts that are against the interest of the farmers and poor.
