The Cottonpet police identified the deceased as Cole Jake George. He had arrived from Mysore by train and was trying to cross the road. Instead of taking the pedestrian underpass, Cole decided to jump over the barricade but collapsed while attempting to do so.

According to some tea vendors in front of the railway station, the British national enquired as to how to reach Koramangala and when they directed him to take an autorickshaw or local bus, he smiled and went on to cross the road, jumping the railings.

“We saw him collapsing and rushed towards him. We tried to administer first aid, he did not respond but within minutes the duty cops arrived on the spot and took him to the hospital,” recalled a vendor.

Sources said, Cole was carrying a tourist visa and after visiting Nepal and Mysore, he had arrived here on Tuesday.  He was supposed to travel to Chennai the same night. The locality  police have alerted the embassy and are waiting for the orders to conduct the postmortem.  The body is at the Victoria hospital mortuary.
