State BJP leaders on Sunday said the party will intensify their agitation and take out a padayatra from Doddakoppalu, the birth place of deceased IAS officer, D K Ravi, to Bengaluru, if their demand for a CBI probe is not met by Monday.

On Sunday, BJP leaders and legislators held a daylong protest in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue, near Anand Rao Circle, in support of their demand. Leaders including Pralhad Joshi, Ananth Kumar, B S Yeddyurappa, K S Eshwarappa and a host of legislators along with party functionaries participated.

“We will intensify our agitation and convert it into a people’s movement if the Chief Minister does not announce a CBI probe on Monday,” Joshi said. The 105-km padayatra, commencing Tuesday, will be covered in four-days to culminate in a massive public rally in Bengaluru, he said.

The party had also planned to scuttle any move by the government to table the interim report of the CID on Ravi’s death. The stay order by the High Court that the government should not table the interim report came later in the day.
