Member of Parliament S P Muddahanumegowda said Kumbara community has remained backward politically and educationally as it has not raised its voice.

At a programme organised by the district administration, Kumbaras’ Association, Kumbheshwara Maha Sangha and Kumbheshwara Multipurpose Association for Backward Classes to mark poet Sarvajna’s birth anniversary here recently, he said communities will not get any facilities if they do not show their strength politically.

“It is not possible for any community to grow as an economic power if it does not progress in terms of education. Therefore, all possible assistance should be given to provide hostels and education for the community,” he told the Kumbar community members.

Gowda said Sarvajna’s Vachanas (Sayings) apply to all ages. His messages, which are available in books, should be understood and disseminated among masses through citing them while delivering speeches. Not only this, speakers should also follow them, he added.

He said the mood of the people in IAS officer D K Ravi’s death cases is a lesson.

“If a man, whoever it may be - a politician or an officer - is honest, people will support them. The example of people standing behind an honest man’s family  in the last one week is before us,” he said referring to Ravi’s family.

Linganna Shetty, Dr Ampanna and S Narayan were felicitated on the occasion.
Deputy Commissioner K S Satyamurthy said, “A number of changes have taken place in the society following urbanisation and industrialisation. Leading life by following family profession is not so easy nowadays.  Therefore, children should be educated so that they get a job. People who have developed are already in Olympics. Then if people are still in hobli and taluk levels, can they be in this competition?”

He said caste census starts in another 18 days and told the community members to register their caste and sub caste properly. This will be helpful to implement development schemes with the assistance of MSMEs and banks, he added.

Cultural thinker N Nagappa delivered a lecture on the occasion.  Zilla Panchayat President Y H Huchchaiah, Chief Executive Officer K N Govindaraju,  community leaders G Siddananja Shetty, T Thimmaiah, Gurumurthy, Radha Ashwath, Raghuramaiah and H Annapurna were present.
