To ensure basic infrastructural facilities at layouts already developed by Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) and transferred to Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), the MCC on Tuesday, resolved to seek civic amenities (CA) sites from MUDA.

Following a proposal from Corporator B L Bhyrappa, representing ward 12 in the city, it was decided to ask MUDA to handover CA sites in the layouts already developed and also in future projects.

Bhyrappa said, MUDA is handing over the layouts to MCC as per rules. However, while the layouts are transferred to the purview of MCC, the authority is keeping vacant CA sites for itself.

Infrastructure

It would be better, in the interest of the dwellers, to hand over CA sites, as the MCC is bound to create basic infrastructural facilities, depending on the growing population. The facilities include place to segregate waste, waste water treatment plant, development of burial grounds, stadium and also zonal offices of the MCC, argued Bhyrappa.

Nominal amount

Though Corporator H N Srikantaiah welcomed the proposal, he advised the council to stake claim over the sites only after paying a nominal amount to MUDA.

It would be unfair to seek the sites for free, the corporator felt. Bhyrappa, who rejected Srikantaiah’s advise, reminded the latter that, there are instances of the MCC handing over its lands for free to MUDA to enable developmental works.

Seven acres of land at Kesare and three acres at Sewage Farm was transferred to MUDA for road works earlier, without seeking any monetary returns to the civic body.

It is also imperative to create basic amenities, as 400 layouts have been developed beyond outer ring road (ORR), said Bhyrappa. Before giving their consent to the proposal, the corporators urged the mayor to include the suggestions, if any, keeping in pace with time, while seeking CA sites from MUDA.
