Legend

Popular as Kaivara Tataiah, Sadguru Sri Yoginarayana Yatindra was born in 1726. Even when he was a young boy, he was inclined towards asceticism and evinced interest in bhajana, keerthana and services of seers and sages. An introvert always, Narayanappa (his childhood name) was into his traditional occupation of selling bangles. Once when he was selling bangles  it rained heavily and he took shelter in a cave where a seer preached him ‘Ashtakashari Mantra.’

Thus inducted into spiritual life, Narayanappa did ‘tapa’ for years till he attained ‘siddhi,’ and became Sadguru Sri Yoginarayana Yatindra.

He served people for 110 years till he attained salvation in 1836. Kaivara Tataiah strove for eradication of superstition and enlightened people on acquiring self-awareness and leading an ideal life.  There are several stories on miracles of Kaivara Tataiah who spread spiritual wisdom through ‘keerthanas and shatakas,’ in Kannada and Telugu. In his devotional songs he expresses his respect for Kanakadasa and Purandaradasa. His works Kalajnana and his philosophy are relevant even after centuries.

Kaivara is 60 km away from the State capital.
