JOIN USFormer legislator from Najafgarh, Bharat Singh was killed and two others were critically injured after being shot at by a group of men in west Delhi’s Najafgarh on Sunday evening. An old rivalry with some gangs is suspected to be the reason behind the attack on the INLD leader.
The ex-MLA was attending a religious function at a banquet hall Avindnandan Vatika with his supporters when the assailants struck. One of the injured is the bodyguard of the leader, while other one is a supporter. The injured are admitted to private hospitals in Dwarka.
A police officer said though the number of bullets received by each victim is yet to be confirmed, initial information received from doctors revealed Singh sustained at least three bullet injuries while his security officers were shot at twice.
The assailants fired at least 20 rounds, including some in the air to scare the supporters, before they fled from the scene.
