Curtains fall on IISc centenary celebrations

The celebrations witnessed visits by Vice-President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, former President A P J Abdul Kalam. A centenary conference held in December last year was attended by more than 2,000 alumni of the institute from across the globe.

President Pratibha Patil attended the formal valedictory of the centenary celebrations on May 8.

The date - May 27 is significant as it was on this day in 1909 that the Constitution of the institute was approved by the Viceroy Lord Minto and the necessary Vesting Order signed.

Tata will be releasing a centenary medallion and later interacting with students at the J N Tata auditorium, IISc sources said.
