Minister of State for Labour P T Parameshwar Naik on Wednesday said that he would will abide by the decision of party high command and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on rejig of the State Cabinet.

“It is not proper to single out some ministers and brand them as under-performers. All the ministers have performed well. The chief minister has never discriminated his ministerial colleagues on those lines, and has always encouraged us to perform better,” he said in reply to a question by reporters on speculation that he would be dropped because of under-performance during the Cabinet expansion.

Party high command

The party high command and the chief minister would take the decision on dropping some ministers.

“I have served the party for three decades. Siddaramaiah made me a minister recognising my service to the party. I never lobbied for a ministerial berth,” he said.
Siddaramaiah has plans to revamp his council of ministers after elections to Gram Panchayats likely to be held by the end of May.

Speculations are rife in the State Congress circles on ministers who are likely to be shown the door.

Yuva Yuga scheme

The minister said the Labour department wold soon launch Yuva Yuga scheme announced in the 2015-16 State budget to provide skill development training to youth in urban and rural areas.

The plan is to train unemployed educated youth to face competitive examinations, he added.

He was speaking to reporters after interacting with the party workers at KPCC office.
Naik said he was planning to organise Labour Day on May 1 in a unique way, and Congress president Sonia Gandhi would be invited to the function. But he refused to divulge any details of the function.
