Students thrilled to witness solar eclipse

Vigyan Parishat tries to ward off wrong beliefs

State Vigyan Parishat had organised a programme to watch longest solar eclipse to the students of selected schools and colleges at observation centres. In Sooryotsava programme organised at Gandhi Maidan by St Mikal School, MLA M P Appacchuranjan, Deputy Commissioner K H Ashwathanarayana Gowda, District Kannada Sahithya Parishat President T P Ramesh, District Vijanana Parishat Vice President K T Baby Mathew viewed eclipse.

Students were enthusiasts to view the eclipse. Vigyan Parishat distributed coffee, tea and biscuits to the students to ward off the superstitious beliefs associated with the eclipse.

Students of Field Marshal K M Kariappa College, Junior College students of Somwarpet, Virajpet, Suntikoppa, Kushalnagar, Shirangala, St Annamma High School, Gonikoppa High School, Koodige Diet, Kushalnagar Vivekananda PU College, Girls Government High School, Madapura D Chennamma College, Kodagarahalli Shanthiniketan, Suntikoppa Nadu High School had made arrangement to view eclipse.

District Akshara Dasoha Officer P S Macchado, Vijnana Parishat convener Premkumar and others were present.  In Kushalnagar too, arrangements were made to watch solar eclipse at many places.

Some of the places included Koodige DIET, junior colleges at Kushalnagar, Somwarpet and Shirangala, high schools at Gonikoppa, Kodagarahalli, Shanthinikethan and Suntikoppa among others.
