All major political parties in Tamil Nadu including the Opposition DMK led by its chief M Karunanidhi on Tuesday demanded Karnataka government to file an appeal in the apex court challenging the acquittal of AIADMK supremo J Jayalalitha and three others in the disproportionate asset case.

Questioning the basis on which the Karnataka High Court had acquitted Jayalalitha in the case, Karunanidhi, who expressed disappointment over the verdict, said the judge in his order had stated the loans obtained by the AIADMK leader and her associates must be taken into consideration while putting the disproportionate assets at Rs 66 crore.

Karunanidhi claimed that apart from the loans availed by the AIADMK leader and her associates, the Judge had also shown a lower valuation for Jayalalitha’s Poes Garden Residence, while reducing the expenditure she had incurred on her now disowned foster son Sudhakaran’s wedding.

Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) leader Ramadoss said as per High Court Order a sum of Rs 13.50 crore has been mistakenly added to Jayalalitha’s income. “If this sum is deducted from Jayalalitha’s income then her total income would be Rs 21,26,65,654,” he claimed.
