A gang of 10 robbed three persons of Rs one crore after promising to multiply the money.

The incident took place near Dobbspet Industrial area, off National Highway-4, on Wednesday evening.

Yogesh, a cable TV operator and a native of Nellore in Andhra Pradesh, met Pratap Reddy, who told him about multiplying the money.

Reddy asked Yogesh to give him Rs one crore and told him that within a few months, he would pay him Rs 1.5 crore. Yogesh discussed the idea with two of his friends and they all agreed to pay the amount.

On Wednesday, Reddy asked Yogesh and his friends to come near Dobbspet Industrial Area along with the money. Accordingly, they came with the money. Reddy arrived at the spot with 10 others.

They threatened Yogesh and his friends with weapons, asking them to hand over the money. The trio refused to give the money, but Reddy and his associates assaulted the trio and fled the spot with the money, police said.

A senior police officer said, “We are yet to confirm how much money the trio were carrying. The case looks a bit tricky. So Yogesh and his friends are also being questioned. It is suspected that Yogesh and Reddy knew each other well for a long time. The hunt is on for Reddy and his gang.”

A case has been registered in Dobbspet police station and investigation is on.
