<p>From this academic year, Polytechnic diploma students of all 35 programmes affiliated to the Board of Technical Examinations, Karnataka, will have a revised curriculum. <br /><br /></p>.<p>“Outcome Based Education,” the revised curriculum is being implemented for the first time in the country, according to department officials.<br /><br />Officials of the Department of Technical Education had initiated the revision of Polytechnic diploma curriculum in the past and the same will be implemented from academic year 2015-16. <br /><br />Officials said the revised curriculum enhances skill development among technologists and consequently improves employability and supports entrepreneurship among diploma students.<br /><br />The curriculum of diploma programmes has been redesigned in consultation with more than 70 experts from leading industries like Siemen’s India, BHEL, HAL, ISRO, BESCOM, Pollution Board of Karnataka, Irrigation department of Karnataka, BOSCH India Ltd, People Soft (I) Ltd, Toyota Kirloskar, Bengaluru, and many more.<br /><br />The curriculum revision team is headed by the Director and the team consists of nearly 200 academic experts from various disciplines in collaboration with the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chennai.<br /><br />The draft curriculum was published in the Directorate website for feedback from various academic and industrial experts and the draft curriculum was finalised after thorough scrutiny of the feedback received.<br /><br />While the revision exercise was carried out for more than three months, from January this year, the higher semester revision will be executed from June 15, in coordination with the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research at its Extension Centre.</p>
