Decision on LC nominations will be taken soon: Akhilesh

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said a decision would soon be taken on the names of persons to be nominated to the Legislative Council.

"The decision is of the party. The government has to send it (to the Govenor)," Akhilesh told reporters here when asked if the cabinet had decided on the names.

He said the Samajwadi Party and the government would taken a decision in this regard soon. "The list will be send before May 25," he said.

BSP MLCs whose term will expire next month include Kamlakant Gautam, Gopal Narain Mishra, Naushad Ali, A L Tomar, Medhraj Singh, Ramchandra Singh Pradhan, Vinay Shakya and Shivbodh Ram.

In the Council, BSP has 54 members, SP 26, BJP seven, Congress two, teachers' group five, Independents four, and RLD one, while one seat is vacant.
