<p>Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday performed Bhoomi Puja for the construction of a new capital Amaravati at Mandadam village of Tullur mandal in Guntur district.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Setting aside all apprehensions about the timing of the event, Naidu accompanied by his wife Bhubaneswar, son Lokesh, performed several rituals marking the ground breaking exactly at 8:49 am at the designated site. <br /><br />Union Ministers Nirmala Sitaraman and Sujana Choudhury, state cabinet ministers, DGP J Ramudu, TDP party leaders and a large number of villagers that have pooled their land participated in the ceremony which lasted for about two hours.</p>
