A 34-year-old man was stabbed to death in the notorious red light area of GB Road on Sunday night following an argument with some men.

Police suspect the hand of some pimps and raids are on at the brothels in the area.
The victim has been identified as Ishtiaq who was a resident of nearby Nabi Karim area.
He worked for a ladies’ handbag manufacturing unit in the same locality.

Ishtiaq and his four friends were on a visit to GB Road when the incident took place.
As he and his friends were walking by the road, he happened to brush past a man who was walking from the opposite direction.

This led to an argument between the two men even as their respective friends joined in the argument.

The argument turned into a scuffle during which one man from the other group pulled out a knife and repeatedly stabbed Ishtiaq in the chest and limbs.

The victim collapsed on the floor even as his friends managed to escape the attack.
His friends returned moments later to find Ishtiaq showing no movement in his limbs. The suspects had already fled by then.

Police were informed and the victim taken to hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Doctors told police that he died of excessive bleeding.
A murder case was registered based on the statement of one of his friends who was present at the crime scene.

Police began investigations into the case and questioned several people in the area.
Investigations so far have suggested that the man who stabbed Ishtiaq is a pimp operating at one of the several brothels in the area.

Police conducted raids at that brothel, but the suspect was found absconding.
Raids at other brothels as well as other possible hideouts too are being conducted in a bid to nab the culprits.
