AP wants Centre to act against Telangana

The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on Tuesday passed a resolution asking the Centre to implement Section 8 of the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Act 2014 that empowers the governor to oversee law and order in the common capital of Hyderabad.

The Cabinet which deliberated on the issue of the cash for vote scam and the alleged tapping of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s phone for over 5 hours unanimously resolved to urge the Union government to initiate action against Telangana government for “impinging on the personal liberty” of citizens of Andhra Pradesh by taping their phones without permission.

Briefing the media after Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu left for New Delhi immediately after the meeting,  Finance and Legislative Affairs Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that the personal liberty of the Chief Minister and his cabinet ministers was at stake under the governance of Telangana government.

“In fact the governor can take action on erring officials. The Section 8 of the Act empowers him. But wherever there is an issue he is not reacting, hence we demand the Centre to frame rules. The Chief Minister will submit a letter to the Centre and also to Governor ESL Narasimhan,” he said.

The Cabinet meeting which was attended by state DGP J Ramudu as an invitee also decided that the Chief Secretary and the DGP will also meet the Home Secretary and the Cabinet Secretary in New Delhi and brief them about the ongoing violation of the Act.

Meanwhile, demanding the resignation of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and prove his innocence in the cash for vote case, YSR Congress warned him to refrain from whipping regional passions.
