Garbage strewn on tank grounds

Trash and destruction was left behind by people who attended a discourse last week at Mud Tank Grounds in Akkithimanahalli.

This has become a regular affair and is causing great inconvenience to people who use the ground for sport activities. Will the officials concerned look into this and ensure that the ground here is kept clean?

Bar near schools

A bar in Syndicate Bank Colony is within a 50 metre radius of two schools. A school is situated just opposite the bar on Bannerghatta Road. This is against the norms prohibiting bars near schools and the activities in the bar are a nuisance to the residents and pose a risk to women and children, especially in the night.

There are more than 200 households in the surrounding area. We request the authorities concerned to inquire as to how a license was provided to a bar near the schools and inside a residential layout.

Mounting garbage dump in RR Nagar

Six years ago when we shifted to the Bangalore University Layout in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, it was a model extension with clean and wide roads. Today there is so much garbage all over that it can be called ‘Garbage Nagar.’

In fact, people come in vehicles to dump garbage here. The BBMP employees too bring their garbage carts to dump loads of garbage, which are not cleared. As a result, the stench is unbearable and the garbage piles draw many stray dogs. Sometimes, the garbage is also burnt.

This has become a health hazard. A BBMP office is located right in front of the garbage heap. I hope the officials will take necessary action to clear the garbage dump.

Set up drainage system

The underground drainage system is made functional in the adjoining layouts of Vidyamanya Nagar. But, people in Vidyamanya Nagar depend on the pit system which is polluting ground water. I request the BBMP to take up underground drainage work in Vidyamanya Nagar.

Restore road

The road leading to Raghuram Layout was dug up to clean the drains. It has been more than a month after the works but there is no sign of asphalting the road yet. People find it difficult to walk on the road and motorists too face troubles traversing the stretch.

I request the authorities concerned to do the needful and to also replace broken slabs over the drains.

Deploy traffic police

Agara Junction near HSR Layout has a high density of traffic as six to seven roads intersect at this junction. Not a single traffic police official is present at this junction during peak hours and throughout the day.

The plight of pedestrians who have to cross the road is unexplainable. The time allowed for crossing the road by the pre programmed signal is hardly a few seconds. Even then, the vehicle drivers ignore the signal and continue to move.

I request the authorities concerned to act immediately and depute at least three to four traffic police personnel to monitor the junction throughout the day to avoid traffic snarl. This will help pedestrians to cross the road safely.

Garbage not collected

I am a resident of Vidyanagar Layout (near Railway overbridge, Ward No 6), Thanisandra. It has been almost a year since the door-to-door garbage collection was carried out in the layout. Apart from two big apartments, this layout has more than 25 houses.

We complained to the BBMP Waste Management helpline about six months ago. Except providing us the contact numbers of the health inspector of this ward, no other help was rendered. Every time we call, the health inspector says he will rectify the issue, but nothing has progressed.

We therefore, registered one more complaint on May 5 and were assigned complaint number 10501738, which is still pending.

KR Puram Lake in deplorable condition

The KR Puram lake is in a deplorable condition. Untreated water enters the lake from different inlets, because of which the waterbody is slowly dying.

In and around the area, a few houses have not connected their waste water pipes to the sewage line and instead let the sewage into the stormwater drain, which enters the lake. The authorities concerned are turning a blind eye to this. Will they look into the matter before this waterbody dies?

Clear iron rods of removed transmission tower

About two years ago, KPTCL shifted a power transmission tower which was on the 4th Main Road near the ISRO Layout bus stand (ward 181).

However, the work was not done properly and remnants of the earlier transmission tower still occupy half the width of the road. The concrete base and iron channels dangerously protrude out into the road and are a risk to road users.

Since vehicular traffic is now heavy on this road, KPTCL is requested to immediately clear the spot before any mishap occurs.

Dangling wires pose danger

The overhead Bescom lines are loosely connected between poles at many places in Nobel Residency Layout. Our layout also has a lot of roadside trees. A breeze or a slight contact with the lines lead to sparks resulting in power failure.

The Bescom hangs the wires nearer to facilitate building owners. At a brick factory across the main road, the wires dangle extremely close to the ground. These days due to heavy wind and rains, there is a power failure every night. I appeal to the authorities to take immediate action.

Bus shelter causes traffic jam

The bus stop/shelter constructed by the local MLA, using the MLA Fund at the Beml Circle, New Thippasandra, is right next to the traffic signal and at the heart of the junction.

This creates immense traffic snarls and jams as the buses stop to pick up passengers in the junction itself.

To add to this, unscrupulous auto drivers park their vehicles right in front of the bus shelter.

The traffic authorities concerned are required to take urgent action to shift the bus shelter from the circle.
