Streams cross danger mark as rains pour without let

With increase in intensity of rain in South Kodagu, water level in streams have rised. The water level in Keere Hole, Lakshmanatheertha has crossed danger level. Water has inundated farm land and houses. 

The water from keerehole has flooded the houses nearby. Water has also entered into the houses situated on the low lying areas in Cauvery Hills layout. The movement of vehicles on Gonikoppa- Ponnampet main road was affected for sometime when water started flowing on the road.  

Paddy fields in Kanooru, Kottageri, Balele, Nittur and Mallur have been inundated. With water flowing on a bridge, the residents of Nittur, Balele and Kottageri faced inconvenience. The bridge connecting Srimangala-Nalkeri has also been inundated. A house has collapsed at Gonikoppa first layout.

As the Chescom failed to rectify the fallen electricity poles in the region, the villages in Gonikoppa and Ponnampet continue to reel under darkness.  The residents from rural areas have started visiting Ponnampet and Gonikoppa to charge their mobilephones. 

With the rains lashing waterfalls have come alive offering visual treat to thousands of tourists and other visitors during rainy season in Somwarpet. Mallalli waterfalls has started attracting a large visitors.
