Ranga Vedike to come up at MCC ground in Kadri

A full-fledged ranga vedike will come up at Mangalore City Corporation gound, at Kadri for public use. Corporator D K Ashok Kumar said the estimated cost is Rs 26.5 lakh and the work has already commenced.

The work is being carried out under the guidance of MCC Consultant Dharmaraj.
The work is likely to be completed by December end and will be thrown open for public use, he added.

Stating that the ranga vedike is 60 ft long and 30 ft wide and has fullfledged green rooms on both the side of the stage.

To help those who come to the ground for walk, the cement gallery has been repaired and tiles will be laid to the gallery to look more attractive.

The corporator said ranga vedike was a long pending demand of the people in Kadri area. It will help to organise public programmes, cultural programmes and theatre activities. Separate arrangement will be made to provide space for sports activities for the residents.

At present, the youth  play in the ground. The public in the area have been demanding a ranga mandira for the last several years. Without a space to conduct public programmes, the public were meeting inconvenience in the region.

Hence the work has been taken up to fulfill long pending demand, said the Corporator.  It was immediate past Mayor Mahabala Marla who had sanctioned fund for the purpose along with the corporators, said the corporator.
