BU PG counselling: Demand for MCom soars

Commerce courses saw big demand on the first day of counselling for admissions to postgraduate courses at Bangalore University (BU) on Tuesday.

As  many as 2,400 applications were received for 1,500 seats in MCom. M Muniraju, Dean of Commerce, said the counselling was held on the first day only for MCom courses, for ranks 1-900. It received 450 applications for 160 seats in MCom (Finance and Accountancy). There were 100 applications each for 30 seats in Masters in Tourism Administration and 40 in Masters in International Business. Admissions were also open for foreign language courses.

Until this year, the university offered PG  only in French and certificate courses in other languages.From this year, it has introduced a PG course in German and Spanish, said Jyothi Venkatesh, coordinator, Centre for Global Languages.
