Rahul dares PM to get Lalit back to India

Last Updated 13 August 2015, 19:18 IST

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi fired a fresh salvo against Prime Minister Narendra Modi accusing him of lacking guts to act against the corrupt and dared him to get Lalit Modi back to India.

A combative Rahul appeared to have shrugged off the personal attacks against his family by the BJP and sought to take the battle to the Narendra Modi camp.

“We had lost the (2014) elections and I felt he had guts. But now I am feeling that this man does not have any guts. We were stuck over the Land Bill issue. I thought it would be a tough fight. We have 40 (MPs), and the other side, more than 200 (MPs). But when the battle was waged and pressure increased, (PM) Modi-ji turned around and started running. It’s a reality, he fled,” Rahul told reporters here.

The Congress vice-president also offered some career advice to Prime Minister Modi and urged him to “grab the opportunity” to bring controversial cricket administrator Lalit Modi back to India. “I tell this to Modi-ji that he has an opportunity. Bring back Lalit Modi and clean up cricket. India is giving you (prime minister) a chance. You still have the credibility,” Rahul said.
