Unscheduled power cuts
There are uninterrupted power cuts in Hulimavu S10 Division. The residents are not given prior information about load shedding. The Bescom authority claim that there is no shortage of power for the coming months. Yet there is power cut throughout the day.

Waste not collected from houses
Garbage is not being collected from houses at Vidyamamanyanagar these days. As a result, the corners of the cross roads adjoining the main road in the locality is turning into a garbage dump. The rag pickers and stray dogs further add to the woes by spreading the garbage to the roads. The residents of Vidyamanyanagar pay garbage cess to the BBMP along with the property tax every year.
Will the Palike take steps to ensure that the garbage is collected door-to-door in this area?

Footpath in bad shape in Jalahalli cross
The footpath near the busy Jalahalli Cross on Ayyappa Temple Road is in a very bad shape. The slabs on the footpath have broken at many places while iron rods protrude from the slabs dangerously, posing threat to the life of pedestrians. Hope authorities take note of the situation and initiate corrective action before some untoward incident.

Garbage dumped into storm water drain
Loads and loads of garbage is being dumped into the stormwater drain on the 5th Cross Road connected to the SWD in second block of HBR Layout.
Foul smell emanates from the mound which attracts lots of crows and dogs.
Though the SWD was fenced around 10 years ago, the fencing has been cut open to dump garbage.
Flow of water in the SWD is hampered whenever it rains. Surprisingly, a tipper auto of the BBMP dumps the garbage into the drain every morning between 6 am and 7 am.
On being threatened that we would complain to the BBMP, they retort that we can even complain to the commissioner or to any minister and nobody could stop them from dumping garbage.
A complaint was lodged with BBMP Sahaya (request No.10509080) on July 13 and the status was “Complaint received and assigned,” but no action has been taken till date. The authorities concerned are requested to look into the matter at the earliest.
Raksha Hegde,
HBR II Block
(4th & 5th Cross)

Trash dumped at tree grove
A guarded teak-tree grove, the property of HAL, has now turned into a landfill. This land is on the approach road connecting LB Shastry Nagar, after Islampur.
It appears that truckloads of garbage are being dumped on this property and then set on fire regularly. The problem has gone out of control now with garbage being dumped just outside the gate of the property. This posing hazards to the people around.
This will surely impact the groundwater and air around LB Shastry Nagar if no action is taken immediately.

Introduce one-way rule here
The residents of “Sihineeru Bhavi Road,” Nagashettyhalli, Sanjayanajar are facing a great deal of inconvenience due to heavy traffic on this road. All categories of vehicles pass through this road at a speed of not less than 60 km per hour, from early in the morning till late into the night.
The residents have become victims of noise and air pollution. The authorities concerned are requested to introduce one-way rule on this road and construct road humps as well. There is also a school nearby and hence regulation of traffic here would be of help to residents.

Bad road in Banashankari
The stretch of road in 18th Main from 30th Cross to 35th Cross Road in Banashankari second stage is in a horrible condition. It is not known as to when this road was asphalted since the road surface has been completly washed away. Added to this, the road has been dug right in the middle for laying sanitary pipelines. Riding on this road has become a nightmare for motorcyclists. The road is in such a deplorable condition that it is even difficult to walk here.
Raghavendra Murthy,
Banashankari II Stage

Rail moves at snail’s pace
The train number 16528 from Kannur to Yeswantpur reaches Banaswadi at 6 05 am and from there to reach Yeshwantpur, which is a mere 15 kms, the train takes two hours. Most people in the train have to go to their offices after reaching their destinations and as such it is sheer incompetence on the part of the railways to make people waste their time like this. Whatever may be their operational difficulties, it is high time they sort this out as early as possible.
