Protest over 'false' Pocso case against teacher

Teachers staged a protest demanding the withdrawal of a Pocso (the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) case registered against a teacher of Chettalli Government Higher Primary School in the town on Tuesday. The teacher, Ratheesh, has been framed in the sexual assault case, they claimed.

Members of the Karnataka State Primary School Teachers Association, State High School Assistant Teachers Association, State Aided Teachers Association, State Principals Association, State Pre Universtiy Teachers Association, State Primary School Headmasters Association, Physical Education Teachers Association participated in the protest.

The district unit of the State government employees association, too, supported to the protest.

The teachers took out a procession to the Fort premises from Gandhi Maidan via General Thimmaiah Circle in the town.

“Teachers are living in an atmosphere of fear. In such a scenario, it would not be possible to impart quality education to students,” the protesters said.

Black Day warned
The teachers also demanded that CCTV cameras be installed in government schools and that they be relieved from the Akshara Dasoha scheme work.

They warned they would observe Teachers Day as a black day if they did not get justice.
The teachers of government and aided schools had applied leave to take part in the
protest.
