Last Updated 24 August 2015, 19:29 IST

61 Cavalry Polo Club (61 Cav) scored a 5-3.5 win over Indian Navy Polo and Equestrian Club (INPEC) in the six-goal Gyan Jyoti tournament - the second tournament of the Bangalore Polo Season - at the Agram ground on Monday. Indian Navy had a healthy 2.5 goal of advantage thanks to their handicap of plus two while 61 Cav boasted a superior plus five handicap.

The naval men  failed to find a goal in the first two chukkers, during which time, 61 Cav had cemented their position at 3-2.5 through Capt Aman Singh, who scored one goal in each chukker, and Maj Arjun Patil's goal in the second.

INPEC came to life in the third chukker but it was a false alarm as apart from Cdr Akhil Sirohi's goal, they had nothing to show for through the rest of the game. The third chukker bore more fruit for the cavalry men as Singh scored his third of the game while Dfr Iliyas Ali got on the scoresheet to make it 5-3.5.

In the second fixture, Remount Veterinary Corps (RVC) edged Army Service Corps (ASC) by a half goal margin, beating them 2.5-2.

The semifinals will be held on Tuesday with 61 Cavalry taking on ASC in the first semifinal while INPEC will face RVC.
