A high-power committee – constituted for the year-long birth centenary celebrations of former chief minister D Devaraj Urs – has decided to name the trifurcated
Bangalore University after Urs, said former Mysuru and Kodagu MP A H Vishwanath on Friday.
Speaking during the birth centenary celebrations of D Devaraja Urs organised under the joint aegis of Arasu Jagruthi Academy and Arasu Patrike here, Vishwanath, chairman of the
executive committee, said: “The Bangalore Central University which remains after trifurcation will be named after Urs.
Similarly, a favourable decision will be taken to confer the Karnataka Ratna award posthumously on the great leader, while a multifarious training centre will be built in his honour in Mysuru city.”
