Back to school from today

Children to be served sweet pongal on the first day

Preparations were on at various schools on Thursday to reopen the schools.

The Education Department has organised inaugural programmes in Srinivaspur at 10.30 pm and in Kolar at 12.15 noon.

Children will be served sweet pongal under Akshara Dasoha scheme. The department has put on a drive to bring back all the 393 drop-outs till June 10. Besides, The cluster resource persons (CRP) and the block resource persons (BRP) are instructed to admit 11,159 children identified by the department to 1st standard.

Nali-Kali programme will be implemented from this academic year for the 1st and 2nd standards. Teachers in two teams have been given training already. The pilot project was implemented in 539 primary schools in the district.

Uniform distribution

The block education officers in all the taluks handed over uniforms to the schools for free distribution among students. The headmasters have been directed on the programmes to be held on the day of school reopening.

Block Education Officer K Nagaraja Gowda said, “45,960 students in  Kolar taluk will get free uniforms.”

DDPI Prahlad Gowda on Thursday inspected preparations for reopening.

Sarva Shikshana Abhiyana Yojana convenor Jayaramareddy and other officers, CRPs, BRPs and headmasters were busy preparing for the commencement of academic activities.

‘First visit’ in Kolar

Officials including the Block Education Officer, 46 BRP, CRP and implementation officers will visit the government schools from Friday till June 10, as per the programme formulated by DDPI Prahlad Rao which is called the ‘First Visit’ in Kolar.

From Friday, which is the first day of re-open of schools, each implementation officer would visit each school and inspect whether the government facilities are being fully utilised and also programmes such as akshara dasoha, Nali-Kali and others are properly implemented at the government schools.
