Last Updated 28 May 2009, 17:44 IST

Member Bhujang Shetty said that even though the order to solve the drinking water woes in many parts of the district has been already issued, there seems no implementation of the proposed orders. Concerned officials’ negligence along with delay in the execution of the sanctioned orders has made the public life misery. They should wait for hours for the water tanks in queue to fetch a pot of water, he added.

Meanwhile Karkala MLA Gopal Bhandari argued that the poll code was not a major obstacle in taking up the measures to solve the drinking water problem.

Estimate is being completed. There is a need to check the real nuisance behind the delay, he said. Karkala is one of the worst affected taluks in the district when it comes to drinking water problem, he added.

ZP CEO Prasanna Kumar assured the house to get deep into the matter and take actions against the concerned. President Raju Poojary said most of the proposed work related to water projects are in stagnant condition.

Poojary informed that Kundapur, Karkala and Udupi taluks have received a sum of Rs 20 lakh each under the task force fund.
