At least 25 CPM activists were injured in a police lathi charge on Thursday when they were marching towards Lalbazar, police headquarters.
The Left activists were protesting against a similar incident of lathi charge during a march to the state secretariat on August 27.
CPM state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra, also the leader of the Opposition in the state assembly, said that a large number of party activists were seriously injured after the police charged at them. “Our central committee member Dipak Dasgupta received head injuries.
Adequate women constables were missing and policemen charged at women activists,” he said.
