<p>The State government is committed to the preservation of Kannada language, culture and resources. During the year 2015-16, the government has provided a grant of Rs 10 crore for the year-long Kannada celebrations and Rs 20 crore towards the development programmes initiated by Gadinadu Abhivriddhi Pradhikara, said District In-charge Minister K Abhayachandra Jain.<br /><br /></p>.<p>He was speaking after hoisting the National flag during the 60th Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations at Subhashchandra Bose district playground in the city on Sunday.<br /><br />The State government has chalked out various welfare programmes such as Anna Bhagya, Manaswini, Maitri, Ksheera Bhagya, Ksheera Dhare, Runa Mukta, Vidya Siri and so on.<br /><br />The government has also increased the compensation amount, given to the family of a farmer in case of his death, to Rs five lakh from Rs two lakh. Also, the interest on the loans, availed by farmers from co-operative banks, have been waived, the minister added.<br /><br />Complex<br /><br />Grants have been released towards various development projects in the district. Ground breaking has been done for the construction of District Administration Complex, to be built at a cost of Rs 25 crore, Jain added.<br /><br />Achievers from various feilds were presented with district Rajyotsava awards. Also, meritorious students from Kannada medium were felicitated on the occasion.Cultural programmes were presented by students. A mock fire fighting exercise was also conducted on the occasion.<br /><br />A procession of Goddess Kannada Bhuvaneshwari was taken out from Old taluk office to the district playground.<br /><br />MLA C T Ravi, MLC Gayatri Shante Gowda, Malnad Development Board president B C Geeta, ZP president Kavita Belliprakash, MUDA Chairman D S Chandregowda, ZP CEO Dr R Ragapriya, SP K Santhosh Babu and Kannada Sahitya Parishat president N S Shivaswamy were present among others.</p>
