City students top Cambridge International Examinations

Students from a number of city schools affiliated to the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) have emerged national toppers in the class 10 equivalent and higher secondary examinations.

The CIE examination board is under the University of Cambridge. Rankings for the 2014-15 examinations were announced on Tuesday.

Two students from Greenwood High, Sarjapur Road – Pavan Kumar Chitta and Guru Sarjith Senthil – topped the International General Certificate of Secondary Education or IGCSE level (equivalent to class 10). While Pavan was awarded the first place for any student with eight IGCSE subjects, Guru was declared top in the country in Computer Science. Ram Vishwanathan from Mallya Aditi International School, Yelahanka, topped the country in History.

“I am very happy with the results and now hope to pursue a bachelors in engineering from US. I am inspired by the likes of Elon Musk from Tesla who combine engineering with entrepreneurship,” said Pavan.

There were as many as five subject toppers from the Mallya Aditi International School in the AS Level (equivalent to class 11) and two in the A Level (equivalent to class 12). From Inventure Academy, Whitefield there were as many as five subject toppers at the AS Level and two from the A Level.

Sridhar Prabhu from Inventure Academy was declared the AS Level national topper in computing. “I want to take up pure science for my higher studies and want to study theoretical physics,” he said.
