The conflicting exit poll results have not dampened the spirit of JD(U)-RJD-Congress alliance leaders. They are claiming easy victory. They, in fact, are,  preparing for celebrations on the counting day.

JD(U) state president in Bihar, Vashisht Narayan Singh on Friday told reporters in Delhi that the BJP is nervous and fearing defeat.

He mentioned statements of senior leaders Rajnath Singh and Ananth Kumar, and said that one is saying that Amit Shah will retain his post and other is saying Bihar polls are not referendum on Modi’s rule.

Leaders, back in Delhi after a hectic poll campaign, are claiming that there is no possibility of the NDA’s defeating the Grand Alliance. The confidence was getting reflected in their discussing menus of the evening parties.

They have different reasons to explain their assumptions. One senior leader claimed that their alliance will get two third seats. He claimed that his assumptions are based on the ground reality.

Another leader said it would be a comfortable majority. “I can only claim a comfortable majority. This was a keenly contested elections and no one should expect sweeping results on one’s side,” said the leader.

The JD(U) leaders are saying that combination of factors has helped them in gaining people’s support.

One of leaders said that the social engineering of Nitish Kumar has worked and BJP could not break the social alliance he has formed.

He claimed that Upendra Kushwaha and Jitan Ram Manjhi proved to be utter failures. They, however, acknowledge that Ram Vilas Paswan has been able to transfer votes of his castes.

“People acknowledge that Nitish Kumar has done development work. Dadri killing and Moahn Bhagwat’s statement also helped us a lot,”  JD(U) general secretary Arun Shrivastav told Deccan Herald.

He also praised “pragmatic politics” of RJD leader Lalu Prasad. Senior leader Afaq Khan believes that failure in polarising people has been the most important factor.
