Attavara Katte cleaned as a part of sanitation drive

The 26th Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan was conducted by Ramakrishna Mission in Attavara Katte on Sunday. Swami Vivekachaitanyanandaji, president, Ramakrsihna Tapovan, Polai flagged off the drive.

Volunteers, devotees of the Ramakrishna Mission, NSS students, Red Cross members, students from Government First Grade College in Car Street, Srinivas Engineering College, Scouts and Guides and Sarojini Madhusudan Kushe High School and College actively participated in the Abhiyan.

The work taken up on last Sunday at Taluk Panchayat office in Hampankatta, which was incomplete due to paucity of time, was completed. Volunteers under the leadership of Dilraj Alva and Prof Mahesh K B cleared three truck loads of garbage dumped at the Taluk Panchayat office in Hampankatta, with the help of an excavator.

The newly laid interlock tiles near Town hall, on the road leading to Mangalore Central Station, were fixed using cement and sand.

The sign boards on the first and second cross at Attavara and S L Mathais Road, which were completely worn out, were repainted to give a new look and for the convenience of the public.

The area around Attavara Katte was cleaned by the volunteers. The teaching staff of S M Kushe High School by actively involving themselves in the cleanliness drive motivated their students and also taught them a lesson never to be forgotten in their life by practical demonstration.

Volunteers also distributed the Swacch Mangaluru awareness pamphlets among the residents in Attavara area.
