Junk food is something that’s raising the brows of everyone alike for most people have understood that it only adds to their momentary pleasure and more importantly, their waist. Most youngsters are also giving up on ready-to-eat snacks and fried foods, to make a shift to healthy eating options and lead fitter lives.

Keeping in tune with that and with a mission to provide wholesome alternatives to city folks, GoingNuts, a Bengaluru-based venture, was started last year by Karthik, an IT professional.

“I had been wanting to start something in the health segment for more than four years but was fearful to make a switch from a regular job to a business. As I started learning more and more about the products, markets and business, I finally took the plunge and came up with GoingNuts. It took courage to make the move. However, it has been worth it,” says Karthik. He adds that for the first eight months, he was handling all the activities of the business alone, but now it is a team of seven people serving 1500 customers across Bengaluru.

Items from commonly consumed nuts like almonds, cashewnuts, pistachio and walnuts and dried fruits like figs, raisins and dates are a part of the product basket. Exotic nuts like pecans, macademia and Brazil nuts and fruits like blueberries, cranberries and pomelo peel also feature on the menu.

GoingNuts even has some hard-to-find healthy and local delicacies like ‘Wild Indian jujube fruit’ puree, dried Hibiscus flower, dried wild Amla and unfiltered wild raw honey among other things. The three key qualities that they offer, according to Karthik, are freshness, goodness and affordability.

“We want to encourage healthy snacking ideas among people by delivering products to their workplaces and homes. It’s something that they can keep handy and binge on any time of the day. We try to provide a variety of fine quality nuts and dried fruits, that are high on nutrition, at prices that won’t pinch one’s pocket. And to ensure quality, we have a three-day return policy as well,” he details adding, “GoingNuts is also nuts about ensuring that the procurement process follows traditional farming methods. The range combines health and flavour in its most natural form. One can find some of the most forgotten and unusual products from across the globe.”

The venture is currently catering to customers only in Bengaluru and working towards expansion in other cities. They have exhibited their merchandise at various events in the City and received a good response, shares Karthik.
