JOIN USKayaking, canoeing and rowing competitions were inaugurated at the Ulsoor Lake by Brigadier M N Devaya, Commandant, MEG and Centre, here on Thursday.
Madras Sappers Bengaluru, Bengal Sappers Roorkee, Bombay Sappers Kirkee, The Regiment of Artillery, Hyderabad and CME Pune will participate in this year’s event.
Races will comprise of the 200 metre, 500 metre and 1,000 metre events. The Bengaluru Regatta is organised by the Kayaking and Canoeing Association of Karnataka, Bengaluru, with technical support from the Madras Engineer Group and Centre. Bangalore’s first Dragon Boat Festival, which was scheduled to be held from December 7, has been postponed to February 5, 2016, in view of the incessant rains and in solidarity with the Chennai flood victims. In fact, skilled paddlers from the army are at the forefront of rescue operations in Chennai.
