City teen is 'Beauty Queen of India'

Eshaani Mitra, a class eight student from Army Public School in the City, is now the teen Beauty Queen of India.

She was crowned the prestigious KiiT Nanhipari - Little Miss India 2015 at a glittering event held in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday night.

In the grand finale held on December 29, Eshaani Mitra from Bengaluru was crowned KiiT Nanhipari - Little Miss India 2015. Swapna Priyadarshini of Hyderabad and Bhoomika Dash of Odisha were crowned first and second runners-up, respectively. The top three winners also received a cash award of Rs 3 lakh, Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50,000, respectively, along with silver crowns, trophies and certificates.

Eshaani, who is well versed in dancing and is currently undergoing training in Odissi, has interests in singing and sketching. Her father Sujoy Mitra, who works as a doctor in the Indian Army, said this was the first time Eshaani was participating in a pan-India beauty pageant and was happy with her performance.

Congratulating Eshaani, KiiT and KISS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta said she had been awarded a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh and the institute will provide her all help for her future studies.

Style, compassion, talent, intelligence and elegance won Eshaani her coveted maiden award as she walked the ramp in the 15th Nanhipari - Little Miss India talent beauty pageant.

She was chosen from among 30 young girls in the 13-16 age group.The shortlisted contestants were chosen for the semifinal round from eight regional auditions from Guwahati, Kolkata, Patna, Bhubaneswar, Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, and had to face several competitions during the three-day event.
