Social activist S R Hiremath, on Friday, trained his guns on former chief minister S M Krishna, alleging that it was Krishna who encouraged political leaders, irrespective of party, to involve in land mafia and illegal quarrying.

Speaking at an interaction with media persons here on Friday, he alleged that Energy Minister D K Shivakumar had misused power and was involved in corruption.

A legal battle should be taken up and such politicians should be punished. It is necessary to be patient, as no one can escape from the clutches of law, the activist said.

Unbiased probe
An unbiased probe should be conducted and he should be dropped from the Cabinet and arrested, he said. Hiremath took exception to Shivakumar involving his family members in politics and appealed to the voters to teach him a befitting lesson.

He claimed that the recent acquittal of actor Salman Khan, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha and others had raised doubts about the judiciary. It is important to protect the sanctity of the judiciary, he said.

Hiremath said that the land use policy should be implemented along with the Act which says farmers are the owners of the land they till. Agriculture lands should not be used for other purposes, he said.
